This documentary-drama, directed by Léon Poirier, stars Albert Préjean, Jeanne Marie-Laurent, Suzanne Bianchetti, Hans Brausewetter and Thomy Bourdelle.

This World War I drama is intercut with a substantial amount of documentary footage to boost the overall gravitas.

This DVD edition has been mastered from the 2006 restoration by La Cinémathèque de Toulouse.

The film is accompanied by a music score performed on piano by Hakim Bentchouala-Golobitch.

The supplemental material includes a brief documentary on the restoration of the film (13 minutes), another on the historical importance of the film (16 minutes), and the documentary film La Revanche des français devant Verdun (Octobre-Décembre 1916) [The French Take Their Revenge in Verdun, October-December 1916] (1917) (29 minutes).

While there is a sister home video edition from Carlotta Films intended for European sales, this is our recommended edition for NTSC home video collectors.
