This DVD boxset of eight Soviet feature films ranges from good to excellent, with 35mm print materials utilized for the high-quality video transfers. Some of the films are presented for the first time on DVD home video.

The films are accompanied by music scores by Robert Israel, Eric Beheim, Alexander Rannie and Zoran Borisavljevic.

Supplemental material includes a 28-page insert booklet with short essays and notes on the films by Maxim Pozdorovkin and Ana Olenina.

For our comparative reviews of the individual films in the collection, see our By the Law on home video, The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks on home video, Fall of the Romanov Dynasty on home video, The House on Trubnaya Square on home video, Old and New on home video, Salt for Svanetia on home video, Stride, Soviet! on home video and Turksib on home video pages.

We recommend this boxset but, regretably, it is now out-of-print.
